Why wait to introduce Geometry?

I think Geometry is a very important study. It helps children develop logical thinking about the things they see all around them each day. Many of you pointed out how the essential basics of geometry are around children every day. Their toys, playground equipment, homes and furniture are all made up of the points, planes, perpendicular lines, closed shapes, and congruent figures, etc., that are the basics of the study of geometry. I personally think it should be taught at an early age to introduce logical thinking and reasoning.
Children can easily learn Geometry by connecting what they know and see each day to the new terms and fundamental ideas taught in Geometry. I think that it not only can be taught, but be taught in many fun ways. In the classes I have observed, the children loved activities involving drawing shapes and playing with blocks, which could easily be turned into a lesson on the basics of Geometry. Why wait to introduce such an important study?

It is easy for students to relate harder subject areas, such as geometry, into their everyday lives. If they can see that their swingset has parallel and perpendicular lines and has points and planes, they are going to remember those terms and ideas for future math concepts.
